What is important to achieve a successful investment?
Living in a place with good strong winds, with an average annual windspeed above 5 m/s is recommended. Tall trees and large buildings, in the surrondings, creat turbulence and this reduces the output from the windmill.
What tower height should I choose?
The tower should be high enough to allow an undisturbed flow of air to the blades. Generally, the higher up, the stronger the winds. Tall trees and large buildings, in the surrondings, creat turbulence and this reduces the output from the windmill.
What is to be considered when the foundation cement is to be poured?
A construction drawing for the foundation will be part of the delivery from WindEn. It is essential that these recommendations are followed to get a safe and long lasting windmill.
Will a lightning conductor attached at the top of the tower be required?
No lightning conductor is needed, the tower itself will act as this.
Does the windmill make a lot of noise?
It does create sound but far less than expected. You hear when the blades rotate through the air.
How does the windmill adapt to changes in the wind's direction and speed?
The WindEn windmills are designed to adapt automatically to changing conditions. The design is called down wind positioning. The rotor is heading away from the wind direction, a quick, uncomplicated and safe design. Therefore, control is made by Stall regulating, this means that at higher windspeeds, the efficeincy of the blade is slightly reduced. See also under the topic "Products".
At what wind speed does the windmill start to produce electricity?
The windmill starts production at 3,5 m/s.
What will happen at extremely high wind speeds, i.e during storms?
When the wind-speed increases to above 24 m/s, the automatic safety system starts to work and stops the windmill. The windmill will, on its own, start operation again when wind-speed decreases to below the safety limit. The entire windmill is designed to withstand wind-speeds up to 52,5 m/s.
In case of a power failure, will my windmill function anyway?
In case of a power failure, the automatic safety system starts to work and stop the mill. The windmill will on its own start operation again when electricity returns.
How much service and maintenance does the windmill require?
The WindEn windmills are designed to run with minium maintenance requirements. The scheduled maintenance is for a change of oil in the gearbox every five years and at the same time the two main bearings will be greased. Apart from that, a quick look and listen to the windmill on site should be done to assure that everything is in order.
